What It Is
The Beverley Firework Spectacular is run by Sky Magic Events, which also stages firework nights in Pickering, Driffield and York. The Beverley show is held at the home ground of Beverley Rugby Union Football Club at Beaver Park on the north-east side of town.
The format is a family Bonfire Night: a firework display choreographed to music, traditional fairground rides, live entertainment hosted by local radio presenters and food vendors. It runs on the Tuesday before 5 November, when most other displays in the region are packed into the weekends either side.
What Happens at the Beverley Fireworks
Gates open at 4pm, and the event runs until 9.30pm, with the fair, food and live entertainment building through the evening towards the main display. General admission gives you access to the fairground, food stalls, and the open field for the display. VIP tickets include access to a private bar, use of the clubhouse toilets, and a separate viewing area, which is worth considering with small children on a cold night.
The ground is a working rugby pitch on the edge of town, not a floodlit arena. Away from the fair, the field is dark, the grass is wet by six, and when the first shells go up the bangs come back off the houses along Norwood a split second later.
Make a Day of It in Beverley
A Tuesday display leaves the daytime free, and Beverley is worth arriving early for. Beverley Minster was founded on the site of a monastery established by John, Bishop of York, who was buried there in 721 and canonised in 1037. The church you see today went up between 1220 and 1425, and the National Churches Trust counts more than 70 medieval carvings of musical instruments inside, along with 68 carved misericords and an Anglo-Saxon frith stool that once offered sanctuary to people on the run.
From the Minster, walk north through the town centre to the North Bar, the brick gateway built in 1409. Traffic still squeezes through its arch in single file. Beyond it lies Beverley Westwood, open common pasture where cattle graze in summer, and a good place to stretch your legs before the fireworks.
By mid-afternoon in early November the light is already going. The Minster’s pale stone turns grey-gold, the rooks settle into the trees on the Westwood, and the first early rockets start going up from back gardens across town.

- Beverley’s North Bar, the brick gateway you pass on the way in from the north, was built in 1409 for £98. It is the only surviving gate from the town’s medieval defences and is Grade I listed.

- Most East Yorkshire displays take place on weekends around 5 November. Beverley’s Tuesday date lets you fit it in without missing the bigger shows.
